About

I’m nobody, who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us!
Don’t tell: they’d banish us, you know!

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To declare one’s name the livelong day
To an admiring bog
!

If you are anything like me you are a bit dubious about blogs, perhaps equating them to something poetically akin to Emily Dickinson’s bog. While I strongly resonate with her famous poem, I’ve also come to believe we are all ‘somebody’ and it’s not only okay to shine our light, it’s actually right to do so! After all, isn’t it really just a reflection of the Light from which we came–of which we are all unique facets–all capable of further illumination of one other.

Regarding the site’s moniker: the name ‘pimente’ seemed to choose itself, coming to me one night on the wings of somnolence. I had to look up the meaning, but it is more or less synonymous with pepper spice. With the long-held aspiration to be like salt and light, perhaps there is a natural extension to that which offers a little zest.

Life is the mysterious place we all find ourselves, and I’ve found that creative expression makes the mystery more enjoyable, serves to deepen it and elevate it all at once.

You’ll find herein an assortment of ponderings, along with a little artwork and music. I hope that something you find adds welcome texture and flavor to your own walk within the unknown.

Thanks for stopping by,

“I would rather be what God chose to make me than the most glorious creature that I could think of; for to have been thought about, born in God’s thought, and then made by God, is the dearest, grandest and most precious thing in all thinking.” ~George MacDonald
